Inter Miami have become something of a retirement home for former FC Barcelona players since Lionel Messi’s arrival last year.
As well as the Argentine international, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez have all made the move to Florida to join up with Messi, with former Barcelona manager Tata Martino at the helm for Inter Miami.
With former Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez this summer linked with Inter Miami, there’s a real chance that the links between the European powerhouses and the MLS franchise will continue in the years to come.
And an Inter Miami-linked Barcelona player could soon make the move to the Herons.

Barcelona announce Inter Miami target Sergi Roberto’s exit
As per Barcelona’s official website, club captain Sergi Roberto has left the Catalan giants after a ‘phenomenal’ 18 years at the club, making 373 appearances in all competitions and winning 20 trophies since making his first-team debut.
With Inter Miami interested in signing Roberto, there’s a real chance that the Herons could land the 11-cap Spanish international if they’re quick off the mark to land the versatile right-back.
Capable of playing in defense and in midfield, Roberto’s versatility could make him an outstanding addition to Martino’s squad heading into the final third of the season for Inter Miami.
Moreover, another Barcelona graduate would strengthen the Heron’s connection with the club, with Roberto a player who could thrive in Florida for Inter Miami.

Roberto could be worth the risk for the Herons this summer
With Inter Miami’s roster and salary as stretched as it can be, the odds of Roberto making the move to Chase Stadium this summer feel low despite recent interest.
Yet with the defender at a good age and still in the prime of his career, Roberto could be worth the risk for Inter Miami this transfer window if an agreement within MLS’s salary requirements can be reached.
Indeed, Roberto could jump at the chance to join Inter Miami given how much his former teammates are loving life in Florida, and the defender could be an incredible signing for the Herons if they can reach a deal.
