Inter Miami have arguably the deepest squad ever seen in MLS, with the Herons covered from superstar names to talented prospects.

This summer has already seen one such player in the latter category secure a big-money move to Europe, with Diego Gomez set to join Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal that will net Inter Miami a club-record transfer fee.

With Benjamin Cremaschi, Tomas Aviles and Ian Fray other youngsters who could one day make the move to Europe from Inter Miami, the Herons have done well in the last 12 months in developing their talents into star players in MLS.

And one such name is now wanted by one of the biggest clubs in soccer in River Plate.

River Plate eye Inter Miami midfielder Federico Redondo

As per Damian Iribarren on Twitter, Federico Redondo is a target for River Plate, with the journalist posting: “Federico Redondo is the no. 5 that Gallardo wants in the short or medium term.”

Noted as a ‘special’ player by pundit David Gass, the midfielder only joined the Herons at the start of this year from Argentinos Juniors, with Inter Miami beating FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to Redondo’s signature.

However, despite arriving with a big reputation from Argentina, Redondo’s time with Inter Miami has been somewhat underwhelming, with the 21-year-old struggling with injury and making just 13 appearances in all competitions as a result.

And with River Plate now interested in signing Redondo, there could be a temptation from Inter Miami to sell the youngster back to his home country, especially if the Argentine giants put in a big enough offer for the midfield dynamo.

Inter Miami have a big decision to make regarding Redondo

Redondo was viewed as Inter Miami’s most exciting signing at the start of the year, a testament to the midfielder’s incredible quality and potential that the youngster had more hype moving to Chase Stadium than striking legend Luis Suarez.

Yet things haven’t gone to plan for Redondo, who has suffered from fitness problems and a lack of consistent form in the Inter Miami starting XI, with the midfielder to yet show what he’s really made of.

If River Plate come in with an offer for Redondo, there’s a real chance that Inter Miami will consider it, and a big decision has to be made this summer on what to do with the Argentine youth international.
