Luis Suarez is a standout candidate for Inter Miami’s Player of the Year, with the striker once again the star for the Herons on Saturday night.
The 37-year-old forward bagged a brace to secure a 2-0 win for Inter Miami against FC Cincinnati, booking the Florida franchise’s place in the MLS play-offs and taking Tata Martino’s side one step closer to the Supporters’ Shield.
With Suarez scoring Inter Miami’s fastest-ever goal, as well, it was a historic night for the attacker, who heading into the final games of the season will want to push the Herons towards silverware, even with Lionel Messi out injured.
And Suarez has now set another Inter Miami record that his Argentine teammate hasn’t even broken yet.

Suarez surpasses Gonzalo Higuain as Inter Miami’s highest scorer in a single season
With Suarez taking his tally to 18 goals in all competitions, the former FC Barcelona replaced former Inter Miami striker Gonzalo Higuain as the highest goalscorer for the Herons in a single season.
The Uruguay international has been a smash hit in Florida since making the move to MLS, with Bradley Wright-Phillips admitting that Suarez has surpassed his expectations after question marks at the start of the year over the move.
And with Suarez now breaking a record that Messi hasn’t even achieved with Inter Miami, it’s safe to say that the Herons were right in their judgement to sign the former Liverpool talisman in January.
Indeed, whether or not Suarez will play for an extra year is another question, but based on the attacker’s form this season, the South American could be tempted to take part in one more season for Inter Miami.

Suarez can become a legend already in Florida
Inter Miami are one of the youngest franchises in MLS, yet it isn’t unrealistic to imagine Suarez already becoming a legend for the Herons if the striker can lead Martino’s side to success this season.
A domestic double in the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup is on the line heading into the final months of the year, and Suarez will want to leave his mark on Inter Miami’s short history by bringing home silverware.
Indeed, Suarez is one of the most successful players in the history of the sport, and the attacker will want to do all he can to win more trophies before his time is up, which will result in the veteran becoming an Inter Miami legend.
