Inter Miami are through to the MLS play-offs at one of the earliest stages ever accomplished by a team in recent years.

The Herons booked their spot in the off-season with a 2-0 win against FC Cincinnati thanks to a record-breaking performance from Luis Suarez, with Inter Miami managing to qualify for the play-offs largely without Lionel Messi.

The Argentine has missed the last 12 games for the Florida franchise, and whilst Messi is close to returning to full fitness with Inter Miami, the Chase Stadium side making it to the play-offs as fast as they did without their star player is quite the feat.

And Kieran Gibbs has named an Inter Miami youngster who will be key in challenging for MLS Cup.

Benjamin Cremaschi tipped to play key role for Inter Miami

Speaking on the Inter Miami Weekly Show, the former Herons defender highlighted how important Benjamin Cremaschi could be for Tata Martino’s plans in the coming weeks for the Supporters’ Shield leaders.

Cremaschi has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting talents in MLS, with the teenage midfielder a regular fixture for Inter Miami even after missing a good few weeks of the start of the season.

Yet Gibbs believes Cremaschi has a bigger role to play for Inter Miami this year, with the former Arsenal left-back saying: “Benja’s been very impactful for the team this year when he’s played.

“He was out for a while but this is the perfect time for him to come back into the side and really let everyone know that he still means business and to grab that opportunity to help this team win the title.”

Cremaschi could be the difference between success and failure for the Herons

Cremaschi is on course to become one of the best products to come out of MLS in some time if the midfielder can maintain his current development with Inter Miami.

And heading into the final weeks of the season, the USA international could be the difference for the Herons between success in MLS Cup and the Supporters’ Shield or failure in winning both titles.

The midfielder is as influential as he has ever been for Inter Miami, and Cremaschi will be determined to bring home silverware for his boyhood club in what will be a year to remember for the Florida giants.
