Luis Suarez has enjoyed an incredible year with Inter Miami, with the attacker playing a key role in what could be a season to remember for the Herons.
The Uruguay is already on 20 goals for the season in all competitions with Suarez setting records with Inter Miami as the striker continues to lead the line in a world-class fashion despite his age and no Lionel Messi.
Suarez has been immense this summer in firing Inter Miami to the play-offs and putting the Florida franchise in the driving seat to win the Supporters’ Shield, a title that the Herons look destined to claim this season.
And expert Matt Doyle has now shared what big award Suarez could now be up for.

Suarez ‘playing like an MVP’ for Inter Miami this season
Speaking on Extratime, the pundit made the claim that the Inter Miami striker is currently playing like an MLS MVP candidate following the news that Suarez has retired from the Uruguay national team.
With Suarez becoming Inter Miami’s talisman in the attack with Messi out injured, the Herons owe the 37-year-old a lot for what the forward has managed to done in front of goal this season, with the former FC Barcelona star in top form.
Doyle said on Suarez’s international career: “He was a huge part of that 2011 Copa America squad that won for Uruguay. He was arguably the best player on that team and the other guys don’t have that feather in their cap.
“Either way, he’s just one of the greatest no. 9s to ever to play the game. It’s awesome that he’s here in MLS and playing like an MVP at this point.”

Suarez is a legit contender for the MLS MVP award
With 20 goals in all competitions and eight assists to boot, Suarez should rightly be considered a genuine contender for the MLS MVP award this season.
With Messi playing as few games as he has and Suarez making a noticeable impact in the attack for Inter Miami, the Uruguay superstar should be in the running with the Florida franchise set to win the Supporters’ Shield.
Moreover, Inter Miami are the clear favorites for MLS Cup, and if Suarez can lead Tata Martino’s side to glory, the 37-year-old could be the standout candidate for this year’s MVP award.
