Inter Miami star says Sergio Busquets did something hilarious whilst watching Real Madrid win the Champions League final

Inter Miami star Julian Gressel has said Sergio Busquets did something hilarious whilst watching Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League final.

Los Blancos were again victors in the biggest game in European soccer as Madrid claimed a 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium, much to the dismay of Inter Miami’s star players.

With Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and the aforementioned Busquets all with the Herons, there’s a strong FC Barcelona core at Inter Miami, a team that famously has a hated rivalry with Madrid.

And Gressel has shared how Busquets reacted when Madrid went 2-0 up against Dortmund.

Busquets turned off the TV as Madrid claimed 15th Champions League title

Speaking on the Player/Manager podcast, Gressel revealed that Busquets turned off the TV whilst Inter Miami players were watching the match with Madrid 2-0 up.

With Busquets a La Masia graduate and Barcelona legend, it makes sense why the former Camp Nou captain was more than willing to spot watching his bitter rivals win yet another European title.

And for his Inter Miami’s teammates, it would have been quite the experience to see Busquets seemingly mad in the locker room, with the 35-year-old known for his cool and calm demeanor.

Gressel said: “I didn’t see the last five or ten minutes because by that time we had been in the locker room before our pre-match, so a few of us were watching it and then Sergio Busquets walks in and just turns off the TV, he just shut it off and we were like ‘okay, that’s it then, time to worry about our game.'”

Busquets and company will always have a deep love for Barcelona

Having spent his entire career at Barcelona before moving to Florida, it’s no real surprise why Busquets was as annoyed as he was with Madrid winning the Champions League.

It’s been nine years since the Catalan giants last lifted the biggest prize in club soccer, with Busquets winning the Champions League just three times in his career, a low tally compared to Madrid’s 15.

Indeed, the likes of Busquets and Messi will always have a deep love for Barcelona, and they will be hopeful that one day the La Liga side will return to their former best after years of mismanagement both on and off the pitch.
