With a supporting cast that alone could have pushed Inter Miami to Supporters’ Shield success, the Chase Stadium side have been nothing short of excellent this season, with the play-offs and MLS Cup now on the horizon.
And former USA international Herculez Gomez has shared what Inter Miami need to do to become the greatest MLS side ever.
MLS Cup win would secure Inter Miami’s status as the best of all-time
Speaking on Futbol Americas, the pundit said the Herons will go down as the best MLS side of all-time if they can go all the way in MLS Cup, with Gomez confident that this Inter Miami squad is already at a level that few would have predicted.
Gomez said: “If Inter Miami can win MLS Cup, it will be difficult for me to say there’s another team who has been better than them, because of the players they have, because of the staff, because of how they did it and how they continue to do it when nobody thought they could.
“I raise my hand, I sat here and said: ‘There’s going to be a day where Messi is going to get injured, he won’t play all these games, the summer schedule this the summer schedule that,’ and I was right. But I was wrong with how the rest of Inter Miami under Tata Martino picked up the slack.
“They didn’t miss a beat, and because of that, when Messi was back, they were Inter Miami again with Messi doing Messi things. So, MLS Cup or bust for them to become the best team ever, because that’s what he was brought here to do.”

MLS Cup is the end goal for Inter Miami, and winning in the play-offs will confirm their status as the best side the league has ever seen, with this squad already something that American soccer fans might not see again.
