'That excites him': Andres Iniesta says how he thinks Lionel Messi actually feels about playing for Inter Miami

Lionel Messi has played alongside some of the best players the game of soccer has ever seen, with Andre Iniesta right up there.

The former FC Barcelona maestro is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time, with Iniesta recently announcing his retirement from the game at the age of 40 having played in Spain, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

With Iniesta linked with a move to Inter Miami last year, it would have been fitting to see the legendary Spanish midfielder reunite with Messi once again in Florida, with Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez already making the move to Chase Stadium.

And Iniesta has now shared how he thinks Messi actually feels about playing for Inter Miami.

Messi ‘feels comfortable’ playing for Inter Miami

Speaking to ESPN, Iniesta noted how Messi looks ‘comfortable’ playing for Inter Miami, with the Argentine international seemingly sold on the project the attacker signed up for last year after leaving PSG.

Although Messi has missed nearly half of the available Inter Miami games due to injuries and international commitments, the 37-year-old attacker is clearly enjoying himself in Florida with his new club surrounded by former teammates.

And Iniesta is starting to see how much Messi is enjoying life at Chase Stadium, with the soccer legend saying: “I would say he has found an environment where he feels comfortable, where he feels at ease.

“He is in a project that excites him, a project with an ambition to grow and he is surrounded by great players. I would say that what is reflected on the field is the happiness with which he is living that project, until the day he decides to stop.”

Messi’s enjoyment at Inter Miami could lead to MLS transfer revelation

With Messi loving life in MLS at Inter Miami, there’s a real chance that other huge names in the world of soccer could decide to make the move to the United States earlier on in their careers.

Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to MLS whilst Antoine Griezmann could also head to America next year, with both players rumored to be targets for Inter Miami as part of their plans for 2025.

And with Messi enjoying his time in the United States with Inter Miami, a transfer revelation could be on the cards in MLS, one that could be fueled ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
