Inter Miami will compete in the FIFA Club World Cup next year in what will be a huge occasion for the MLS franchise.
The expanded competition will see Inter Miami take on some of the biggest clubs in soccer in a tournament that will witness Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets enjoy what could be their last dance against old foes like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
With Miami one of the host cities for the tournament, the Herons could be one of the dark horses for the Club World Cup if they can improve on their squad for next summer with a huge January transfer window on the horizon.
And Jordi Alba has now shared why the Florida franchise taking part in the Club World Cup is so big for the Herons and Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham.

Inter Miami competing in the Club World Cup ‘a long time’ in the making
Speaking to the press, Alba shares how Inter Miami competing in next year’s Club World Cup is something that the Herons have been striding for, with Beckham keen on getting his team in the tournament.
Alba said when asked about competing in the Club World Cup: “I think it’s important for Inter Miami, for the city, and for the country in general, I think it’s important to measure ourselves against these types of teams.
“Luckily, I’ve already played against them, but most of the squad have not had the opportunity to play against the type of players from these teams. It will be difficult, but I think it’s a great success to be there and to try to compete at our maximum as always.
“For the club, and above all for the players and for David [Beckham] who has been here a long time and has been working for a long time, I think that it is important to see the growth of the club, and we’ll try to leave as big a legacy as possible.”

Inter Miami need to show they can compete with the best in the world
Beckham’s project to assemble what could be the greatest MLS side of all time will all lead up to the Club World Cup next year, where Inter Miami will take on the best the game of soccer has to offer.
With Inter Miami one of two MLS sides taking part, the Herons will have the pressure to perform given just how incredible their squad is, with Messi and company already having a target on their back.
Yet Inter Miami have thrived under pressure this season, and at the Club World Cup, the Florida giants will want to show how good they really are against the best in the sport in their own backyard.
