Historic Inter Miami coach Diego Alonso has just now landed a new role with a top European club having been out of management since last year.
The 49-year-old made history in 2019 after being appointed Inter Miami’s first-ever head coach, a position Alonso only held for 13 months after a turbulent first year with the Herons highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
With Inter Miami since moving on to Phil Neville and now Tata Martino in the Lionel Messi era of the club, Alonso landed roles with Uruguay, managing the South American nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as Sevilla, where the former Monterrey boss lasted just nine games with the La Liga giants.
However, Alonso has now found himself back in management with a European club.

Inter Miami will be keen to see Alonso finally succeed in Europe
After the disastrous spell that was Sevilla, Alonso deserves a good time at a European club having been away from the hot seat for some months, and Inter Miami fans will like to see their former coach succeed in Greece.
Panathinaikos is one of the biggest clubs outside the traditional top-five Europeans leagues with a passionate fanbase who demand success and silverware on an annual basis.
And Alonso will have to match the ambitions of the club if he is to impress at Panathinaikos, where the Uruguayan manager could become a hit with the right decisions and moves.
