Inter Miami have been the best side in MLS this season, with the Herons winning the Supporters’ Shield and being named as a host club for next year’s FIFA Club World Cup.
With Alexi Lalas backing Inter Miami’s qualification for the Club World Cup, the announcement earlier this month will see the Florida franchise take on the biggest clubs in soccer, with Lionel Messi and company likely to host the opening game.
Jordi Alba shared that Inter Miami making the Club World Cup is huge for the likes of David Beckham, who has been influential in getting the Chase Stadium side to where they are today heading into the MLS play-offs and setting numerous records.
But former USA manager Bruce Arena has another opinion on the subject.

Arena says Inter Miami competing in the Club World Cup is ‘wrong’
Speaking on TalkSport, the five-time MLS Cup winner said Inter Miami qualifying for the Club World Cup is ‘wrong’, with Arene saying he doesn’t agree with the Herons being the host club nominated for next year’s competition.
With the Seattle Sounders also due to take part, Inter Miami were seemingly the obvious choice to be named as the host club for the Club World Cup given their Supporters’ Shield win and reaching a record-points total.
Yet for Arena, Inter Miami making the cut over another MLS team doesn’t sit right with the former MLS manager, who believes the decision was the wrong one despite how good Tata Martino’s side have been this year.
Arena said when asked about Inter Miami making the Club World Cup: “It’s clearly marketing, for sure. Is Inter Miami the sole representative of Major League Soccer? If that’s the case, I think that’s wrong. I don’t agree with it. But obviously, Messi is going to bring a lot of attention.”

Inter Miami will want to prove a lot of experts wrong next summer
Inter Miami have come under fire from all fronts for their participation in next year’s Club World Cup, even with the Florida franchise being the best-suited club to represent MLS for the tournament.
And with a figure as big in US soccer as Arena now shooting down Inter Miami’s status as competitors in the Club World Cup, the Herons will want to prove the former Stars and Stripes manager and others completely wrong.
As we know, Inter Miami have the best squad in MLS and could get even better by the time the Club World Cup rolls around, and Martino will want to show the world how good his team is against the best in the world.
