The January transfer window is just around the corner for Inter Miami, and James Rodriguez has once again emerged as a target for the Herons.
The Colombia international has been rumored with a move to Florida for quite some time, with Rodriguez one of the biggest names in South American football despite being viewed by many as a failure at the likes of Real Madrid and Everton in the Premier League.
However, Inter Miami are again linked with signing Rodriguez, who could leave La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in the January transfer window for free after failing to do much with the Spanish side since joining this summer.
And club president Raul Martin Presa has shared what he thinks about Rodriguez and his future in Madrid.

Rayo Vallecano president coy on Rodriguez’s future amid Inter Miami interest
Speaking to DAZN, the La Liga official noted that Rodriguez’s lack of playing time is down to manager Inigo Perez, with the 33-year-old attacking midfielder making just six appearances in all competitions for Rayo this season.
With Rodriguez one of the biggest names in South American soccer and this summer starring at the Copa America in the United States with Colombia, a move to MLS makes a lot of sense for the veteran superstar at this stage in career.
Yet when pressed, it appears that Rayo are no closer to making a concrete decision on Rodriguez’s future, even with the former Bayern Munich maestro hardly playing for the 13th-place La Liga side this season.
Presa said: “The decision is made and Inigo has opted for other players. Luckily at Rayo Vallecano there is a lot of competition. It’s a luxury to have James Rodriguez in the squad. We hope that when he does play, if he has to play, he gives us what he used to. It’s a luxury and we are thrilled to have him.”

Rodriguez’s future might take some time to get resolved
Having starred at the Copa America this summer and recently being nominated for FIFA’s Best award, Rodriguez playing just six league games this season seems quite incredible given how good the Colombian international can be on his day.
Yet for the likes of Inter Miami, it could take some time before Rodriguez’s future is fully resolved, with Rayo seemingly yet to come to a clear-cut decision on what to do with the attacking midfielder heading into January.
However, with transfer interest mounting for Rodriguez, Rayo could be tempted to sell on the 33-year-old if a good enough offer comes in, one that Inter Miami could make in the coming weeks.
