Inter Miami have appointed Javier Mascherano as their new manager after Tata Martino’s departure, with the Argentina coach set for a big few weeks.
The Florida franchise ended the 2024 MLS season in disappointing fashion having crashed out of the play-offs at the first hurdle, though Inter Miami managed to claim the Supporters’ Shield as well as set a new regular-season points record.
With Mascherano already having plans to sign the likes of Angel Di Maria, Inter Miami are set for a big off-season that could see a number of superstar players make the move to Chase Stadium ahead of 2025.
And one Inter Miami star in Leonardo Campana has already decided what he wants to do with his future after the appointment of Mascherano.

Campana determined to thrive for Inter Miami under Mascherano
According to El Futbolero, the Ecuador international is determined to impress Mascherano heading into he new season, with Campana already working on his fitness this off-season ahead of what could be an exciting pre-season.
With Inter Miami interested in signing Boca Juniors striker Miguel Merentiel, a move for the Uruguay international could result in Campana leaving Florida, with the 24-year-old attacker one of the three Designated Players on the Herons’ payroll.
Moreover, Inter Miami’s interest in the likes of James Rodriguez could result in Campana having his contract bought down in order to facilitate a superstar signing, an outcome that is highly likely heading into 2025.
However, with Campana seemingly more determined that ever to impress at Inter Miami, it could take quite a lot for the former Wolves talent to leave the MLS giants, especially with the attacker already a locker room favorite.

Inter Miami would be crazy to let Campana leave in January
Campana is far from the biggest name in Inter Miami’s star-studded roster, but the Ecuador international is certainly one of the most important when it comes to squad depth and off-the-field matters.
Leonardo Campana’s 2024 Inter Miami stats | Games played | Goals | Assists |
MLS/MLS play-offs | 30 | 8 | 2 |
Leagues Cup | 4 | 1 | 0 |
CONCACAF Champions League | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Total | 35 | 9 | 2 |
With 11 goal contributions last season, Campana’s numbers did not set the world on fire, but the 24-year-old striker proved to be a reliable backup for Luis Suarez and a game-changing option from the bench when needed.
And for Mascherano and Inter Miami, they will be crazy to allow Campana to leave in January, with the forward seemingly set on taking his game to a new level heading into 2025 and in this exciting chapter of the franchise’s history.
