Inter Miami are prepearing for what could be their busiest transfer window yet when the January market opens next month.
New manager Javier Mascherano has his work cut out with the former Argentina youth coach set to oversee a huge squad overhaul in order to get Inter Miami into a position where they can compete for MLS Cup as well as the FIFA Club World Cup.
Although the Herons have been rumored with some big-name players, some current stars could also be set to leave, with Facundo Farias linked with a move to Boca Juniors with Drake Callender also potentially out as Inter Miami look for a replacement.
Yet one Inter Miami star is already out and now en-route to England to sign for a Premier League club.

Diego Gomez spotted at airport to officially join Brighton & Hove Albion
As per Wilson Gonzalez Bronce on Twitter, Diego Gomez is en-route to officially sign for Brighton & Hove Albion, with the journalist posting: “Diego Gomez travels to England this afternoon to play for Brighton of the Premier League.
Brighton reached an agreement with Inter Miami in the summer for Gomez with the midfielder set to join the Seagulls for a record transfer fee for the Herons, with the Paraguay international voted the best young player in MLS this year.
Indeed, Gomez will become the latest in a long line of MLS products to make the move to the Premier League, joining the likes of Everton winger Jack Harrison, Crystal Palace goalkeeper Matt Turner and AFC Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams.
And having played alongside some of the greatest players in the history of soccer in Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets, Gomez’s education at Inter Miami could make the midfielder a star in England, especially with Brighton’s development record one of the best in all of Europe.

How good was Gomez at Inter Miami?
Gomez might have only made 40 appearances for Inter Miami across two seasons with the Florida franchise, but that doesn’t mean that the 21-year-old midfielder didn’t leave no impact with the Herons.
Diego Gomez’s Inter Miami stats | Games played | Goals | Assists |
2023 | 28 | 6 | 7 |
2024 | 12 | 1 | 0 |
Total | 40 | 7 | 7 |
Seven goals and seven assists from central midfield in 40 appearances is a good tally for a midfielder playing in a league with as much quality as MLS, with Gomez working well alongside Messi and company this season under Tata Martino.
And heading into 2025 at Brighton, Gomez’s form could hit another level if he can adapt to the Premier League quickly, with the Paraguay international seemingly eager to get started already with the Seagulls next year.
