Inter Miami fans could be about to welcome their first major signing of the off-season with one deal reportedly edging closer.

New manager Javier Mascherano has yet to make any new additions to the side but numerous players have been linked to the club.

It appears unlikely that Neymar will join the Herons, while rumors linking Sergio Ramos to Inter Miami have also gone cold.

David Beckham and the Inter Miami hierarchy will be looking to bring in some new additions to Chase Stadium. Diego Gomez recently left to join Brighton whilst goalkeeper CJ dos Santos joined new MLS side San Diego FC.

The departure of dos Santos leaves Inter Miami with just two goalkeepers Drake Callender and experienced Oscar Ustari.

It’s clear that the club need to sign a new goalkeeper and one might be on the way.

Inter Miami edge closer to Nahuel Losada deal

While many of Inter Miami’s transfer links are yet to come to fruition it appears they may be closer than ever to securing a top target.

Lanus goalkeeper Nahuel Losada has been requested by Mascherano and the club remains optimistic about his signing – according to Bolivian journalist Leonardo Chambi Loza on X.

Losada is experienced at the age of 31 and only recently joined Lanus in 2024 following a long stint with Belgrano where he made over 100 appearances.

A deal is yet to be reached for the shot-stopped but his signing would provide Lionel Messi with further Argentinian teammates ahead of next season.

The club have already been linked with fellow Argentinians Nicolas Otamendi and Nicolas Tagliafico. Tagliafico appeared to offer a come-and-get-me plea to Inter Miami.

Inter Miami’s defensive fragility explored

While scoring goals was not an issue for the club during last year’s MLS run the strength of the defence left a lot to be desired.

The club were the highest scorers in the entire MLS bagging 79 times, but their defence was only the eighth strongest.

Miami’s defensive fragility was shown in the MLS play-off defeat to Atlanta where they conceded six goals in three games.

The Herons conceded two or more goals in 12 of their regular season MLS games last year and kept just six clean sheets.

Inter Miami need to strengthen its defense if they are to truly challenge in the play-offs next season.
