Inter Miami are set for a massive January transfer window, with big-name signings and some surprise departures seemingly on the cards.

The Herons have already made a few movies heading into next month’s market, with Inter Miami announcing the departure of Nicolas Freire after the Argentine defender’s loan spell with the Florida franchise came to an end.

With Boca Juniors also interested in signing Facundo Farias, there’s a real chance that Inter Miami could lose one or even two big-name players who Javier Mascherano might have turned to next season as real options in his roster.

And another important figure in Inter Miami’s squad is attracting interest from a former club.

According to journalist Ariel Luduena speaking to DSports Radio, Racing have made Matias Rojas their top target to replace Colombia international Juan Fernand Quintero, who is set to leave the Argentine club this January.

Rojas’ Inter Miami future is currently up in the air with the attacker currently in contract talks with the Herons having only signed earlier this year as a free-agent, with the Paraguay international impressing in MLS.

With Boca Juniors also interested in signing Rojas, Inter Miami need to come to a decision quickly on what to do with the attacker as more and more teams begin to cast their eyes on the Herons’ no. 7, who could be tempted with a return to South America.

And with a former club in Racing now in the mix, Rojas has a big decision to make in regards to his career, with the forward likely to be a player Inter Miami won’t mind losing in January if it means bringing in another world-class figure.

Rojas departure will allow Inter Miami to make an exciting signing

Rojas had a great first year at Inter Miami, but if the Florida franchise are to make a big-name signing like fans are expecting next month, the Paraguay international might have to be the fall guy for such a move.

Indeed, Inter Miami’s interest in Neymar will not go any further unless the Herons can make the roster changes needed to free up the spots needed to make the Brazilian international a legit signing next year.

And selling Rojas could do just that, with the attacker bringing in a lot of interest off his own back after a fantastic few months with Inter Miami, where the forward showed he could be a star player for the right team.
