The Herons’ enjoyed a hugely successful 2024, with a number of star players playing a huge role in that success.
Inter Miami were crowned winners of the Supporters’ Shield following their record-breaking MLS campaign – in which they amassed 74 points, beating New England Revolution’s previous record of 73.
To achieve such a feat, your players have to be on top of their game and that was undoubtedly the case at the Chase Stadium in 2024.
Whether it be the magic of Lionel Messi or the experience and flair of Jordi Alba, there are several Inter Miami stars that could earn the title of ‘Inter Miami’s best player of 2024’.
Inter Miami News does its best at ranking those players below…
5) Marcelo Weigandt

First up on our list is Argentine full-back Marcelo Weigandt. Having arrived from Boca Juniors on loan in March, the 24-year-old has since gone on to become a key member of the Inter Miami first team.
The right-back racked up an impressive 32 appearances in total in 2024, with his exploits on the right flank playing a huge part in Miami’s Supporters Shield success.
4) Jordi Alba

In fourth is another full-back, namely Jordi Alba. The Spaniard enjoyed a hugely successful 2024, racking up an impressive ten assists in the MLS – the same amount as teammate Lionel Messi.
Whether it be his defensive experience or his creativity going forward, Alba played a huge role in Miami’s success this past season.
3) Diego Gomez

Undoubtedly Inter Miami’s breakout star of 2024, Diego Gomez takes bronze in our list.
Having notched 13 goal contributions across the season, the Paraguayan was the key cog in the Inter Miami midfield alongside the likes of Sergio Busquets and Federico Redondo.
The 21-year-old impressed so much, that Gomez recently earned a move to Brighton.
2) Luis Suarez

Narrowly missing out on top spot and in second place is legendary frontman Luis Suarez.
Finishing second in the MLS goalscoring charts, the Uruguayan enjoyed a lethal season in front goal, notching 25 in total – the most in the Inter Miami first-team.
Suarez’s 2024 performances were rewarded with a contract extension and the former Barca man will hoping for that MLS Golden Boot in 2025.
1) Lionel Messi

Only one man could have topped this list and that is none other than Lionel Messi.
The eight-time Balon D’Or winner struggled with injuries during parts of 2024, his impact though was still felt on the field – shown by his crazy record of 36 goal contributions in 25 appearances.
As Messi nears the end of his career, Vice City fans will be hoping he can replicate his 2024 performances for a few more years yet.
