Inter Miami appear to be kicking into gear this offseason and the club could be about to hijack the deal of an MLS rival.
Herons fans have had to be very patient but recently Inter Miami made their first major signing by bringing in Fafa Picault from the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Inter Miami also appear close to the signing of Gonzalo Lujan, who could arrive from San Lorenzo after a $800,000 agreement was reached.
The side has had to deal with many outgoings including Diego Gomez who joined Brighton and Hove Albion and Leo Campana who signed for the New England Revolution.
Fans have been calling for some incomings and it appears they may be about to get their wish – but it could come at a cost.

Inter Miami working on Facundo Farias swap deal
While Inter Miami fans will be happy to be linked with a potential new signing it could result in another star leaving the club.
New manager Javier Mascherano is reportedly interested in hijacking LA Galaxy’s deal for Racing star Baltasar Rodríguez, according to reports.
According to El Crack Deportivo, LA Galaxy has already initiated contact with Racing Club regarding Rodríguez but Inter Miami is ready to offer a player in return.
Argentine midfielder Facundo Farias is potentially being used in part of the deal to bring Rodríguez to Chase Stadium, with the players having a very similar profile.
Rodríguez is known for his technical ability and tactical awareness, something that Farias also thrived in.
The club could be looking to move quickly on a deal, especially as Inter Miami’s chances of signing James Rodriguez face a battle with numerous other teams.

Comparing Farias and Rodríguez
On the face of it, there is very little to separate the two Argentinian stars and fans may be confused by the potential swap deal.
Both are in their early 20s with Farias 22 and Rodríguez 21, the pair also play in a very similar position on the pitch but this move could more be about Mascherano stamping his touch on the side.
Farias failed to make a single appearance for the Herons last campaign after suffering a cruciate ligament tear which ruled him out for the entire campaign, perhaps the club is looking to offload him due to his injury concerns.
Facundo Farias | Baltasar Rodríguez | |
Appearances | 108 | 66 |
Goals | 19 | 7 |
Assists | 11 | 4 |
Transfer Market Value | $4,000,000 | $4,500,000 |
Position | Attacking Midfield, Centre Forward, Left-Winger | Attacking Midfielder, Right Midfield, Right Winger |
It will certainly be interesting to see if the Herons can get this deal over the line, and more importantly what the fans will think of it.
Inter Miami fans were certainly unimpressed with Matias Rojas’ exit, so the club need to get this right.
