Inter Miami have finally started to bolster their squad ahead of the new MLS season, but they could be dealt a major transfer blow.

The Herons have been closely linked with Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, but both deals will be hard to complete.

Inter Miami were handed a major boost in their Neymar pursuit which could be a vital signing considering the outgoings from Chase Stadium.

Diego Gomez has left to join Brighton and Hove Albion and Leo Campana has joined MLS rivals New England Revolution in a record deal.

Javier Mascherano was keeping his eye on Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, but it appears another MLS rival could be leading the way to sign the superstar.

San Diego FC in the hunt for De Bruyne

While any deal to bring De Bruyne to the MLS would be tricky, The Athletic have reported that San Diego FC are showing major interest in the City star.

Inter Miami has already been stung by San Diego FC, having lost two stars CJ dos Santos and Franco Negri to the club.

De Bruyne is in the final months of his contract with his Premier League side but he has suffered numerous injuries in recent months and has struggled to secure a spot in the starting side regularly.

San Deigo FC is set to become the 30th franchise in the MLS and has already made a major signing in the way of Mexican international Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano.

San Diego has not filled all of its ‘designated player’ spots, giving them greater financial room for manoeuvre when it comes to agreeing terms with the six-time Premier League champion.

Inter Miami may have already turned their attentions to new targets with San Diego FC looking in the driving seat for KDB’s signature.

The Herons appear now to be focusing on Baltasar Rodriguez, who is currently playing his football with Argentinian side Racing Club.

What KDB could bring to Inter Miami

While it seems unlikely that a deal could be agreed for De Bruyne anything is still possible, use the Lionel Messi signing as an example.

De Bruyne still has many years left to give at the age of just 33, in that time he has wracked up almost 500 club appearances across some of the biggest leagues in Europe. He also captains his national side of Belgium where he has more than 100 caps.

There is no doubt that KDB would bring some solid experience but he would give so much more than that.

De Bruyne has played a key part in Manchester City’s last six Premier League title wins with his brilliant creativity and effortless nature on the ball.

His leadership qualities have increased tenfold in recent years and Messi and Luis Suarez would love playing alongside the Belgian.

It’s clear to see that De Bruyne would be able to impact this Inter Miami side with both goals and assists. It could be worth David Beckham pulling out all the stops to get a deal done for the star who is likely to become a free agent.
