The January transfer window has been an eventful one for Inter Miami, with the Herons pulling off a number of signings already.

Five new additions have been made by Javier Mascherano with Inter Miami set to sign Maximiliano Falcon from Colo-Colo, though the Herons are set to miss out on Neymar with the Brazilian superstar ready to return to boyhood club Santos.

As well as signings, the Chase Stadium have sanctioned a lot of departures this off-season, with Diego Gomez joining Brighton & Hove Albion for a club-record fee as Matias Rojas caused surprise with fans by making the move to Argentine giants River Plate.

And another Inter Miami talent could now be ready to leave the MLS side this winter.

Facundo Farias closing in on Inter Miami exit

According to AS, 22-year-old attacker Facundo Farias has ‘one foot out the door’ at Inter Miami, with Racing and Estudiantes both interested in bringing the Argentine international back to his home country this month.

With Mascherano coy on Farias’ Inter Miami future in a recent interview, all signs seem to suggest that the South American talent will be heading back to Argentina in the January transfer window after a turbulent time in Florida.

Farias missed all of 2024 due to an ACL injury with the versatile forward only returning to Inter Miami training right at the end of the regular MLS season, with the Herons clearly looking to move on from the youngster under Mascherano.

Indeed, Farias impressed whenever given a chance by Inter Miami in the 2023 season, yet with new signings coming in at a record pace and the squad evolving with Mascherano at the helm, the youngster could be making a good decision in leaving Florida for a return to Argentina.

Have Inter Miami already replaced Farias this January?

As mentioned, Inter Miami have already made a number of signings this January, and looking at the Herons’ recent additions, there’s a good chance that Farias’ replacement has already been brought in.

Fafa Picault was signed by Inter Miami as cover for the attack as the Herons also added Tadeo Allende from La Liga side Celta Vigo on loan, two arrivals that can act as potential replacements for Farias, as well as Rojas.

Indeed, Inter Miami have spent well and will continue to recruit smartly this winter, with Farias’ departure now looking like a sure thing at this stage in the transfer market with two big Argentine clubs interested in the forward.
