Inter Miami have formed a reputation for themselves in MLS as one of the busiest teams when it comes to making transfers.
This January alone has seen the Herons make five new signings with Inter Miami set to add Maxililano Falcon to their ranks in the coming days, with Javier Mascherano eager to improve the quality of his new squad for the new season.
As well as new signings, a number of departures have been made over the window, with Diego Gomez leaving Inter Miami for a club-record fee whilst Leonardo Campana and Matias Rojas have also exited the Florida franchise.
Yet one player who left Inter Miami last year is now making transfer headlines for all the wrong reasons, with his club opting to terminate his contract just six months after arriving from Chase Stadium.

Emerson Rodriguez and Vasco de Gama agree to terminate contract
According to Globo, Emerson Rodriguez and Brazilian side Vasco de Gama have agreed to terminate the Colombian winger’s contract just six months after the forward joined from Inter Miami on loan with an obligation to buy.
Rodriguez effectively ended his time with Inter Miami when the attacker joined Vasco de Gama last year on loan, with the Brazilian side obligated to sign the winger when his contract with the Herons came to an end this season.
Emerson Rodriguez’s Vasco de Game 2024 stats | Games played | Goals | Asssits |
Serie A | 15 | 2 | 0 |
Copa do Brasil | 6 | 0 | 1 |
Total | 21 | 2 | 1 |
However, with just two goals and one assist in 21 appearances for the Brazilian side, Vasco de Gama and Rodriguez have agreed to part ways this January, with the 24-year-old attacker now a free-agent just six months after moving to Brazil.
Indeed, Rodriguez has struggled for form ever since joining Inter Miami, and the latest episode in the winger’s career could be damaging when planning next steps, with the forward now at a crossroads on where to go and what to do next.

How have other players fared since leaving Inter Miami?
Inter Miami have had some huge names represent the Pink and Black over the years, with Rodriguez’s story arguably the most turbulent from the vast pool of players to play for the Florida franchise since their inception.
Yet not all stories are bad ones, with former captain DeAndre Yedlin becoming a key player for FC Cincinnati since being surprisingly traded to the Eastern Conference side, with former winger Lewis Morgan becoming one of the best attackers in MLS having left Florida to join the New York Red Bulls.
And this month alone has seen Gomez become the first former Inter Miami player to feature in the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, with the midfielder coming off the bench against Manchester United to make his debut.
