Inter Miami are gearing up for what could be a momentous MLS season in 2025.
The Herons enjoyed a hugely successful 2024, with Miami lifting the Supporters Shield following their record-breaking MLS points tally.
Now under the guidance of new boss Javier Mascherano, the Vice City team will hope to go on one better and overcome last year’s MLS play-off disappointment.
Inter Miami’s pre-season success suggests they could be in for an exciting season under Mascherano – a sentiment which has been echoed by Luis Suarez.

Luis Suarez speaks on Javier Mascherano appointment
Having played alongside Mascherano at FC Barcelona, Suarez will no doubt still be getting used to life under his ex-teammate.
When questioned on what life has been like since the Miami manager’s appointment, Suarez told the MLS website:
“We had Mascherano as a teammate, and having him as a coach is going to be a great experience. We are going to follow his orders, adapt to his way of working and hopefully he can perfect what we have been doing.
He has many concepts that he brings from the great teams he was on, and we have to respond to him on the field to take Inter Miami to the top, which is what the coach wants.”
Suarez is targeting MLS success in 2025
Suarez played a key role in Miami’s progress in 2024, scoring an impressive 21 MLS goals in just 27 appearances.
The Uruguayan’s goals however weren’t enough to fire Miami to MLS Cup glory, with the Herons crashing out of the playoffs against Atlanta United.
Speaking on his side’s disappointing play-off exit, Suarez insisted Miami have learnt from their mistakes in 2024.
“After having finished the 2024 season the way we did, I think we’re coming back with even more desire to turn around that bad image. That bad experience we had when we were eliminated in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs with Atlanta United.
“We have to learn from what we experienced in the past so we don’t make mistakes again this year and can go all the way. It’s about getting a reward and giving our people something to be happy about.”
