Inter Miami have reportedly joined the race to sign an exciting South American prospect who could sign after he is back from the Olympic Games.
The Herons are set for a big summer as Tata Martino looks to improve his squad as we slowly approach the MLS play-offs, with Inter Miami also close to beginning their defense of their Leagues Cup title.
With the likes of Raphael Varane linked with a move to the Florida franchise, it’s clear that Inter Miami are ready to bring in another big name to add to their growing roster alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Yet the Herons could now be about to move for another South American prospect.

Inter Miami interested in Cerro Porteno youngster Wilder Viera
According to journalist Uriel Iugt, Inter Miami have joined the race to sign 22-year-old Cerro Porteno midfielder Wilder Viera, who this summer is expected to represent Paraguay at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Iugt wrote on Twitter: “Inter Miami is interested in Wilder Viera. The midfielder from Cerro Porteno is being analyzed by Tata Martino. His arrival in the MLS could occur after the Olympic Games.”
Having signed Federico Redondo earlier this year while also having Diego Gomez and Benjamin Cremaschi on their roster, it’s clear that Inter Miami aren’t done quite yet in building their midfield for the future.
However, with reports suggesting that the aforementioned Gomez could be off to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, signing Viera as a replacement could be a wise decision for the Herons given his profile.

Viera suggests a new-look Herons midfield is in the works
Praised by ABC as a ‘talented’ prospect, Viera’s has often been used by Cerro and Paraguay’s youth sides as a defensive midfielder, something that Inter Miami could look to do if the youngster was to join this summer.
Whilst Sergio Busquets is the main anchorman for Inter Miami with Redondo also capable of playing this role, adding another option in Viera could suggest a new-look Inter Miami midfield with Cremaschi as the more advanced option is in the works.
Indeed, Inter Miami’s young options are some of the best in MLS already, and adding Viera to the mix would be quite the addition for the Florida franchise, especially if Gomez was to leave for Europe this summer.
