'Really impressive': Kieran Gibbs now blown away by growing partnership between Inter Miami duo

Kieran Gibbs has voiced his admiration for a growing partnership between two Inter Miami youngsters this season.

The Herons have one of the deepest and most diverse squads in MLS, with Inter Miami having the veteran superstars in Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to the exceptional prospects in the making in Benjamin Cremaschi and Tomas Aviles.

Such a mix of age groups has played a big part in Inter Miami’s success this year, with the Florida franchise well-equipped to go all the way in both the race for MLS Cup and the Supporters’ Shield.

And former defender Gibbs has highlighted two youngsters who are starting to look good bouncing off each other.

Gibbs impressed with Diego Gomez and Federico Redondo connection

Speaking on the Inter Miami Weekly Show, Gibbs praised Diego Gomez and Federico Redondo for their growing connection on the pitch after their comeback performances on Saturday against Nashville SC.

The South American duo finally returned to action on the weekend having spent some time out injured, and Gomez and Redondo impressed away in Music City for Inter Miami, with Gibbs highlighting how good the pair look together.

Gibbs said: “Their return comes at a really important time for Miami, they’re top players but the way they’ve come back and slotted straight in, I feel like their understanding and their relationship between each other, particularly in this game against Nashville, is really impressive to see.

“The way Yannick stayed central and snuffed out any danger, Campana stayed up top as the target man didn’t stray too far from the middle of the goal, it just allowed for those players in behind him to really rotate, and Nashville looked lost at times, it was really impressive to see.”

Inter Miami have to keep Gomez around amid Premier League interest

Gomez and Redondo are starting to show the beginnings of an exciting new partnership, yet interest from Brighton & Hove Albion in the Paraguayan could end this duo before it’s even begun.

The 21-year-old is wanted by the Premier League side, with interest this summer likely to tempt Gomez over to Europe after an impressive year with Inter Miami despite hardly playing in recent months due to injury.

And with Gomez starting to click with Redondo, the Herons must do all they can to keep the midfielder until the end of the year, where the youngster could be key in Inter Miami winning MLS Cup and reclaiming Leagues Cup.
