Inter Miami are reportedly set to sell one of their star players for a club-record fee this summer.

The Herons have had quite the transfer window despite the market only opening for MLS teams this week, with Inter Miami linked with the likes of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos.

As well as new signings, a number of players have been linked with moves away from Inter Miami, who currently sit top of the Supporters’ Shield standings heading into MLS All-Star week.

And one Inter Miami player is now close to being sold to a Premier League side.

Brighton close to agreeing $18m deal to sign Diego Gomez

According to Tom Bogert, Brighton & Hove Albion are inching closer to reaching an agreement with Inter Miami for the signing of Diego Gomez.

Lauded as an ‘unbelievable’ player, Gomez is set to leave Inter Miami for a club-record $17m, with the Paraguay international likely to remain with the Herons until the end of the year.

With Brighton having an exceptional development record with the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, Gomez heading to the English south coast could be an unbelievable move for the midfielder.

And for Inter Miami, keeping hold of the 21-year-old until the end of the season is huge, with Gomez one of Tata Martino’s most important players this season.

Gomez will want to leave Inter Miami as an MLS champion

Gomez has proved his quality this season, with a $17m move to Brighton more than warranted after everything the youngster has managed this year.

And ending his spell with Inter Miami as an MLS Cup winner would be the perfect way for Gomez to depart Florida ahead of 2025.

Indeed, Gomez will benefit greatly from potentially six months of regular soccer at Inter Miami, and the youngster has what it takes to win silverware for the Herons.
