Inter Miami are reportedly the most likely MLS team to secure the services of one of the USA national team’s most important players this summer.

The Herons are no strangers to being linked with top names from the world of soccer, with this summer seeing Inter Miami rumored with moves for the likes of Marco Reus, Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos.

With the Florida franchise the arguably the most appealing MLS team to play for after last year’s arrival of Lionel Messi, with Inter Miami since attracting some top names from Luis Suarez to Julian Gressel.

And the Herons could now be in the driving seat to sign one of the USA’s best players.

Inter Miami leading the charge to bring Weston McKennie to MLS

Planet Sport claim that Inter Miami are the most likely MLS side to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, with the USA international set to leave the Serie A giants this summer after the appointment of new manager Thiago Motta.

McKennie had been linked with FC Cincinnati with the Ohio franchise eyeing an audacious transfer for the USA international, who to many is only just at the start of his career at the very top in European soccer.

However, it now appears that Inter Miami are the leading club to sign McKennie if the midfielder was to return home to America, with the prospect of playing with Messi, Suarez and Sergio Busquets something that might be too tempting to reject.

Indeed, McKennie would be nothing short of an incredible signing for Inter Miami and arguably one that could be as league-changing as Messi to MLS, yet with the midfielder valued at $20m, the Herons might simply struggle to afford the USA star.

McKennie to MLS could be a transfer reserved for 2025

Given the potential figures that could be involved if McKennie was to join Inter Miami this summer, there’s a real chance that this transfer might be held back until 2025.

As we know, Inter Miami have all three Designated Player spots filled and will likely need to buy down one of Luis Suarez or Leonardo Campana if they’re to fit McKennie in their salary structure.

And as a result, waiting until 2025 could be the play from Inter Miami, with McKennie a top talent who could again raise the reputation and quality of MLS, like Messi did last year.
