Lawson Sunderland reveals Messi magic on Inter Miami debut
Speaking to the Inter Miami Weekly Show, Lawson Sunderland shared how amazed he was with playing with Messi on his debut for the Herons earlier this season against Real Salt Lake, with the 22-year-old making six appearances.
With Messi elevating the quality of Inter Miami’s squad to unparalleled levels, it’s no real surprise that a number of players are in awe with playing alongside the Argentine international in the last 12 months.
And Sunderland is no different, with the Illinois-born talent sharing one moment on his Inter Miami debut at the start of the year that summarizes well what it’s like to play with one of the greats in Messi.
Sunderland said: “It’s just so fun getting to see that, getting the ball and turning it into Messi whilst bouncing off of Busquets is fun. There was a moment in my debut against RSL where I gave Messi the ball on the wing and he just took on six guys and almost scored a goal, that was surreal to watch.”

Fans will be eager to see Messi back for the Herons this month
It’s been over two months since Messi was last seen in the pink of Inter Miami, with the Argentine international injuring himself in the Copa America final last month against Colombia.
Although Martino has said Messi is on course for Inter Miami, fans will be keen to see the forward back in action later this month, especially with huge games against FC Cincinnati on the horizon for the Herons.
Indeed, Messi’s return will be eagerly anticipated in the coming weeks, and supporters will hope for another incredible moments from the forward when he is finally back in action.
