Inter Miami have been linked with a slew of superstar names this summer, yet the Herons are yet to add to the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Raphael Varane was in talks to join Inter Miami before the French defender opted to join Italian side Como 1907, with the Herons also linked with the likes of Sergio Ramos and Marco Reus, with the latter close to joining the LA Galaxy.
With Inter Miami’s only signing this summer coming via River Plate defender David Martinez, there’s a real chance that the Supporters’ Shield leaders could go the entire window without bringing in a superstar name.
And it appears that one such target is now set to join another team despite links to Inter Miami.

Alexis Sanchez to join Udinese despite Inter Miami links
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Alexis Sanchez is set to return to Udinese after leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season, with the Chilean international regarded still as one of the biggest names in South American soccer.
Inter Miami had been linked with Sanchez earlier this summer, with the attacker a former FC Barcelona teammate of Messi’s, though the forward is more well-known for his time spent at Premier League giants Arsenal.
With Inter Miami’s attacking options as good as they are, adding Sanchez to the mix would have been quite the play from the Herons, especially with how good the 35-year-old veteran would have been in MLS at this stage in his career.
Yet like Varane, Sanchez is a superstar player Inter Miami have once again missed out on, with the winger set to remain in Europe and join another former team in Udinese in Serie A for the upcoming season.

Sanchez could have been perfect for the Herons this summer
Even with Messi, Luis Suarez and Leonardo Campana in their ranks, there’s no such thing as too much firepower in MLS, and Sanchez could have been a perfect fit for Inter Miami this summer.
The former Manchester United and Inter man is regarded as one of the best attackers in the last decade or so in Europe, with Sanchez helping the Nerazzuri to two Serie A titles, one of which was won last season.
Indeed, the wait for Inter Miami’s next superstar signing continues, and for many fans, Sanchez could have been the one this summer if the forward was willing to make the move to the United States.
