The veteran attacker took on the role as the Florida franchise’s talisman attacker with Lionel Messi still out injured, with Suarez going the entire Copa America playing just a handful of minutes for Uruguay.
With two goals and assists in three Leagues Cup matches, Suarez more than impressed for Inter Miami during the competition, though Tata Martino’s side were ultimately eliminated via the hands of the Columbus Crew.
And former defender Kieran Gibbs has now shared his verdict on Suarez’s performances during Leagues Cup.

Suarez praised for ‘high level’ Inter Miami performances
Speaking on the Inter Miami Weekly Show, Gibbs lauded Suarez for keeping up his world-class performance levels during this summer’s Leagues Cup, which this year has been viewed by Inter Miami with much less important than last season’s edition.
With 16 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season, Suarez has been nothing short of a hit for Inter Miami this year after arriving as a free-agent signing in the January transfer window.
And Suarez showed during Leagues Cup that he can thrive without having to play alongside Messi, who hasn’t played for Inter Miami since the start of June and could be out well into September.
Gibbs said: “The performances of Suarez I thought was excellent. He held up the ball, he was a target man for Miami, he helped them out of trouble many times, and he continues to perform at a high level.”

Suarez will want to keep performing for the Herons
Suarez has proven a lot of critics wrong this season with his performances for Inter Miami, with the legendary striker proving that he can still do a job despite his age and recent fitness issues.
And after an impressive Leagues Cup on an individual level, Suarez will want to keep his form up later this month when MLS action returns for Inter Miami against Supporters’ Shield rivals FC Cincinnati.
Indeed, Suarez will be key for Inter Miami in their bid to win a domestic double later this year, and the striker will want to keep up his form ahead of some huge MLS games in the coming weeks.
