Luis Suarez has been nothing short of outstanding for Inter Miami this year, yet few expected the striker to actually impress this season.
MLS legend Bradley Wright-Phillips was worried if Suarez could cut it in MLS with the veteran attacker signing for the Herons at the start of the year on the back of an impressive yet injury-hit year at Brazilian giants Gremio.
With Suarez breaking Inter Miami records, though, these fears have been quashed by the man himself in spectacular fashion, with the 37-year-old leading the Florida franchise to the Supporters’ Shield and post-season play-offs.
And pundit Taylor Twellman has now shared how Suarez has proved him wrong at Inter Miami.

Twellman in awe by Suarez’s Inter Miami form this season
Speaking on Twellman’s Takes, the former New England Revolution star admitted that he got it wrong about Suarez this season, with the pundit in awe with what the striker has managed to do with Inter Miami this year.
Twellman said on Suarez’s impact at Inter Miami: “The signing of Luis Suarez had me perplexed. That knee did not look healthy, it looks like it forces him to run and move awkwardly at times, and yet he reminds everyone, especially me, that class is permanent.
“16 goals and five assists in 16 starts, I get it, it’s the deepest roster ever put together in MLS history, and one could argue that Campana would have similar stats, but I don’t buy that. Suarez has been clinical and efficient for Tata Martino as they’re now on the verge of setting the points record in an MLS regular season.
“They also have Messi coming back, who week in and week out without him would still be worth the price of admission. So when they hoist the Supporters’ Shield, they may need to put Suarez on their shoulders as he might be the winner of the Golden Boot and MVP, it’s possible.”

Suarez winning MLS MVP would be perfection
Suarez arrived at Inter Miami this year with a point to prove after being written off by experts before MLS even kicked-off, with the striker now showing that pundits were wrong to say he couldn’t make an impact.
Suarez has been arguably Inter Miami’s best player this year with Messi out for the majority of the season either through international commitments with Argentina or on the treatment table.
And with Suarez firing Inter Miami to Supporters’ Shield glory, there’s a real chance that the attacker could win the MVP award, with the forward the standout candidate for the Herons in 2024.
