Inter Miami were unable to return ways this weekend with a 1-1 draw against New York City FC at Yankee Stadium.
Leonardo Campana’s second-half strike was canceled out by a 95th-minute James Sands header, a goal Inter Miami manager Tata Martino argues should never have counted due to a foul in the build-up on Yannick Bright.
With Inter Miami drawing midweek away to Atlanta United, the Florida franchise have now dropped four points from winning positions in their last two games, though the Herons still comfortably lead the Supporters’ Shield race.
And midfielder Julian Gressel has now shared how the Inter Miami squad are feeling after yesterday’s result.

Inter Miami ‘frustrated’ after last-minute New York City draw
Speaking on MLS Wrap-Up, Gressel revealed that Inter Miami are ‘frustrated’ after dropping even more points, with the USA international stating that the Herons are after the regular season points record currently held by the New England Revolution,
With four games to go, Inter Miami need ten points if they’re to beat the record held by their Eastern Conference rivals, and Gressel believes the Herons can still make history despite dropping points in back-to-back games.
Gressel said after the game: “I’m obviously frustrated. The points record is on our minds and we want to do something special, we want to create history and we are creating history, no franchise has done what we’re doing now.
“Ultimately, that points record is there, it’s still there for us to take, but these two results, they hurt, but hopefully they’re good lessons for the play-offs.”

Inter Miami need to bounce back after back-to-back draws
Inter Miami have come within minutes of securing six points from six in their last two games, yet late goals in Atlanta and New York have seen the Herons just bring back two points to Florida.
With Charlotte FC next up, the Chase Stadium side have the perfect opponent to get their winning touch back, especially with history on the line for Inter Miami.
The regular season points record is something Inter Miami’s squad are seemingly intent on winning, and a win against Charlotte next week will be huge for the Herons in their bid to create MLS history.
