Inter Miami have been the best side in MLS this year, with Tata Martino leading his star-studded squad to the play-offs and the Supporters’ Shield title.
With Inter Miami now one win away from breaking the regular-season points record, the Florida franchise can make even more history on the weekend if they can get one over against the New England Revolution, who are already out of play-offs contention.
Barring any injuries this international break, Lionel Messi will be in line to start for Inter Miami in the final regular-season fixture, with the Herons looking like strong favorites to go all the way in their quest to win MLS Cup.
And MLS expert Andrew Wiebe has now backed one Inter Miami figure to win a major award.

Inter Miami’s Tata Martino backed to win MLS Coach of the Year
Writing for MLS’s official website, the pundit named Martino as the favorite to win MLS Coach of the Year, with the Inter Miami manager overcoming obstacle after obstacle to get the Herons where they are today.
WIebe said: “This team has been under the most pressure ever, he has managed more than one, more than two – a handful of players that no other manager in MLS history really has been asked to manage – certainly not in that scale.
“They have just responded at every single turn, and so much of that to me isn’t just about the talent of the players on the field, it’s about a coach who could basically manage two different teams – one with Messi, one without Messi.
“It just feels to me that all the different attributes that a manager needs to pull on the levers have been pulled on, and it’s worked. And they’re doing something in this season, regular season, that’s historic. And not just historic, but responding to that level of pressure? I don’t know. To me, the job Tata’s done is just absolutely spectacular.”

Martino deserves major MLS award this year
An argument can be made that any manager would succeed with this side in MLS given the incredible amount of depth Inter Miami have in their roster, yet Martino has shown he was the perfect man to lead the Herons into the Messi era of the franchise.
Having worked in MLS beforehand and with Messi at FC Barcelona, Martino was the dream appointment for Inter Miami, with the Argentine manager showing he is more than just relying on his fellow countryman to get results.
Martino has used Inter Miami’s squad to their maximum potential with tweaks that have got incredible results out of players, and the former Mexico manager more than deserves MLS Coach of the Year this season.
