Inter Miami are currently in the midst of the MLS play-offs, which is what makes the upcoming November international break so frustrating.

MLS being aligned with the FIFA calendar means that the post-season will take a two-week pause for the international break, where Inter Miami are expected to lose key players in Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Paraguay midfielder Diego Gomez.

With a number of youngsters also likely to be named for international youth games, Inter Miami will be holding their breath that there are no injuries in this month’s break, with the Herons in no position to lose anyone key for the play-offs.

Yet one Inter Miami player could now be staying in Florida for the international break.

David Ruiz could stay with Inter Miami despite potential Honduras call-up

According to journalist Oscar Funes, David Ruiz might not feature for Honduras in the upcoming international break, with the Inter Miami midfielder currently out on the sideline but due to return later this week.

Funes wrote: “David Ruiz is a doubt to feature for Honduras for the matches against Mexico. He suffered a muscle injury that has kept him off the pitch and he will only join the group training with Inter Miami this week. His club will send a medical report. Manager Reinaldo Rueda will have the final say.”

Noted by Diario Diez as an ‘exciting’ talent, Ruiz has been a regular fixture for Inter Miami this season, with the 20-year-old talent playing both in central midfield and at center-back for the Herons across the year.

And with Ruiz back in training this week and potentially missing the November international break to work on his fitness, the youngster is making a decision that could be huge for Inter Miami in their quest to win MLS Cup.

Who else is out injured for Inter Miami?

Inter Miami have had a number of injury problems this year, with Messi alone missing two months this summer due to a twisted ankle suffered during the Copa America final with Argentina.

Yet with the play-offs now here, the Herons have just the two players out for the remainder of the year, with Nicolas Freire out for Inter Miami with an ACL injury whilst Facundo Farias is now back in training having suffered a similar problem in pre-season.

Although Freire and Farias have been big losses this year, Inter Miami have adapted without the Argentine duo, and the pair will be welcome back with open arms in 2025 when they’re back to full fitness.
