The MLS is reportedly investigating Inter Miami’s playoff series with Atlanta after reports that an altercation took place during the hotly contested matches.
The Herons’ went into their third and final game of the play-off needing a victory to progress to the next round following a 2-1 defeat in Atlanta in game two.
Despite being major favourites and having home-field advantage, it was not enough to see Inter Miami over the line, with The Five Stripes providing a shocking upset.
The game was certainly fiery, with Brad Guzan and Luis Suarez’s altercation highlighting this.
However, the MLS is now investigating the incident, which took place away from the field of play during the three-game play-off.

Commentator Twellman escorted from Inter Miami play-off match
According to reports in The Athletic, the MLS is investigating an incident involving commentator Taylor Twellman following Inter Miami’s play-off match with Atlanta.
Reports suggest that Twellman was involved in a physical altercation with a production assistant, according to multiple sources who spoke to the Athletic.
The incident reportedly happened on October 25th during game one of the MLS Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
Twellman allegedly made physical contact with an audio engineer in the commentary booth, and the reported altercation saw the former US international removed from work duties during the pivotal third game between the two teams.
The 44-year-old is due to be back on duty to call the Western Conference semifinal between LAFC and the Seattle Sounders on November 23.
Twellman critical of Inter Miami exit
Twellman shut down Jordi Alba’s critical playoff format comments whilst expressing concern about Inter Miami’s poor defensive structure.
Twellman took to social media following Inter Miami’s exit, posting some pretty damning comments about Gerard Martino’s side’s ability to defend in transition.
He posted: “They lost because they can’t defend in transition and haven’t been able to all year. They lost because Guzan was a monster and Messi & co couldn’t figure him out. They lost because the game is played on the field and not paper.”
The former New England Revolution forward went on to praise the side’s great regular season form but said they were simply outplayed in two of the three playoff games.
