Tata Martino has surprisingly resigned from his role as Head Coach at Inter Miami.
The Argentine oversaw a record breaking campaign in which Inter Miami amassed an unprecedented 74 points in Major League Soccer, securing the Supporters’ Shield while also watching his side net a league-high 79 goals.
Furthermore, the South American is a candidate to win MLS Coach of the Year for his efforts, although the 62-year-old has now opted to step down for personal reasons, according to the Miami Herald.
Xavi could arrive at Inter Miami to replace Tata Martino – with the Spaniard already linked to the role before it became available – but the Miami Herald have now dropped a new name into the running.
Javier Mascherano could replace Tata Martino
Xavi knows Lionel Messi well, having shared a pitch with the Inter Miami No.10 on 399 occasions at Barcelona.
However, David Beckham could hire another man the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is well acquainted with in Javier Mascherano.

The 40-year-old has been involved in football management since 2021 when opting to take control of the Argentina U20 side, a position he remains in.
Mascherano has overseen 28 wins from 50 games in charge, drawing ten and losing 12 as his side have scored 93 goals under his guidance.
Javier Mascherano tactics could suit Inter Miami players
If Beckham does hire the South American, his tactical identity may not take long to show itself in Miami.
Mascherano typically adopts a 4-2-3-1 formation, which is not much different to Martino’s preferred 4-3-3 shape, and the Argentine has even been known to use a 4-3-3 himself, so there is a chance he may not even opt to change the current shape if he does end up in charge of Inter Miami.
That, coupled with the fact Messi knows him well, could help Mascherano become an instant success in Miami.
