Inter Miami are on the hunt for a new manager, and Javier Mascherano looks set to become the man on the touchline for the Herons.
The former FC Barcelona defender has emerged as the front-runner for the position, with Inter Miami set to appoint Mascherano later this week after the departure of Tata Martino as head coach earlier this month.
With Mascherano already interested in bringing Angel Di Maria to Inter Miami, the Argentina U-20 head coach seemingly has big plans for the Florida franchise ahead of what will be his first taste of club management.
Yet pundit Shaka Hislop has shared why Mascherano could be a big risk for Inter Miami.

Mascherano’s lack of MLS experience could hinder him at inter Miami
Speaking on ESPN FC, the former Trinidad and Togabo international noted that Mascherano’s lack of experience at managing in MLS could hinder the Argentine coach at Inter Miami given how unique the league is.
The likes of Ruud Gullit and Wayne Rooney all had trouble getting around MLS’s rules and certain aspects that aren’t used in other leagues, and Hislop believes Mascherano could struggle to grasp what he’s actually walking into with Inter Miami.
Hislop said when asked about Mascherano’s pending move to Inter Miami: “There are some pluses, but looking in from the outside, there are few and far between. That’s down to a couple of things, one is his inexperience.
“Yes, he’s been coaching Argentina’s U-20s, but that’s only 20 games in charge. Coming into a system and a club like Inter Miami and a league like MLS and all the quirks that come with that and then the expectations around Inter Miami, it’s a lot.”

Mascherano will know he’s being thrown at the deep end
MLS is rightfully regarded as one of the hardest leagues in soccer to succeed in, with the play-off structure, the travel and unique transfer rules something that few ever master in their time in America.
Yet Mascherano will know that he’s being thrown right at the deep end with Inter Miami, who will be keen to see the young Argentine coach succeed right off the bat after Martino’s failed bid to win MLS Cup.
With Mascherano a former teammate of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, though, the new Inter Miami manager will have a lot of support already in the locker room, and this appointment could end up working out in the years to come.
