'To continue for another year': Luis Suarez delivers first message after signing Inter Miami contract extension

Luis Suarez has committed his future to Inter Miami by signing a contract extension with the Florida franchise.

The former Uruguay international penned a one-year deal with the Herons in January of this year with Suarez making the move to Inter Miami from Gremio, with the veteran striker scoring an impressive 25 goals in all competitions and assisting 12.

With Inter Miami getting to work to tie Suarez down for another year, news today of the striker agreeing a new deal with the Supporters’ Shield champions is a huge update for the Florida franchise going into pre-season.

And Suarez has now shared his first reaction about signing a new deal with Inter Miami.

Suarez ‘very happy’ to be playing another year at Inter Miami

Speaking to Inter Miami’s official website, the Uruguay legend shared his happiness at signing a new contract with the Herons, with Suarez keen to get going for another year at Chase Stadium.

With Inter Miami also working to tie Lionel Messi down to a new contract, the Florida giants are making some good moves behind the scenes after a disappointing end to the 2024 season, with Atlanta United knocking out the Herons in the play-offs.

Yet heading into 2025, Suarez seems excited about what’s to come, especially with Inter Miami now having a new manager in Javier Mascherano, a former teammate of the 37-year-old striker’s at Barcelona.

Suarez said: “I’m very happy, very excited to continue for another year and to be able to enjoy being here with this fanbase, which for us is like family. We feel very, very connected with them, and hopefully, next year, we can bring them even more joy.”

Suarez will want to end next year by winning MLS Cup

Suarez is one of the most decorated players in recent memory as well as one of the most lethal strikers in the entire history of soccer, with the attacker bringing goals and flair to Inter Miami’s frontline this season.

And in 2025, Suarez will want to end the year by winning MLS Cup having fallen so short this season in the post-season, with Inter Miami stumbling after the first hurdle against Atlanta.

Indeed, Suarez will want to show he’s still one of the most clinical forwards in world football at Inter Miami, and under Mascherano, the centre-forward could find a second-wind to hit another new level alongside Messi and company.
