Inter Miami could next year face Manchester City at the FIFA Club World Cup, where Pep Guardiola’s side will be a favorite for the competition.
Lionel Messi’s former FC Barcelona manager has transformed the Etihad Stadium side into a winning machine in recent years, with City winning the last four Premier League titles and the Manchester giants claiming a famous treble in the 2022/23 campaign.
With Inter Miami interested in signing former City defender Nicolas Otamendi, the two sides meeting at next summer’s Club World Cup would be quite the occasion given Guardiola’s admiration for Messi and Sergio Busquets.
Yet City are now considering a move for a player who has been on Inter Miami’s radar this year.

Manchester City lining up surprise move for Inter Miami target Paul Pogba
According to the Independent, City are considering a shock move for Paul Pogba, who is due to return to soccer next March, with the reigning Premier League giants assessing the France superstar as a potential midfield signing.
Pogba has been linked with a move to Inter Miami in recent weeks ahead of his return to the pitch, with the midfielder recently spotted with Messi’s bodyguard sitting courtside at a Miami Heat game.
Although Los Angeles FC appear to be the favorites to sign Pogba, Inter Miami’s interest could be tempting for the 33-year-old midfielder, though City entering the picture does complicate things for the MLS side.
However, with Pogba a former Manchester United player, there’s a real chance that the midfielder could reject City due to past loyalties with their rivals, potentially opening the door for Inter Miami to swoop for the Juventus star.

What has Pogba said about Inter Miami in the past?
With Pogba recently stating that he prefers Messi to Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s perhaps no real surprise that the 2018 FIFA World Cup-winner has been linked with a move to Inter Miami in recent weeks.
Although interest from City is major and a surprise, the Herons should feel confident enough to secure Pogba’s signature, especially with Miami a place that the midfielder has spent some time in across the years.
Moreover, Pogba met with David Beckham back in 2021, with the Inter Miami owner potentially planting the seed back then that could lead to the midfielder joining the Chase Stadium side in January of next year.
