Having enjoyed such a successful spell in Vice City, many may be at confused at Henderson’s decision to switch to Atlanta United.

Jose Armando, an Inter Miami reporter, however, has since revealed further details behind the exit on X – suggesting it may have been a long time coming for Henderson.

“Chris Henderson has been losing control at Inter Miami for months.

“Tata Martino was the one who orchestrated the roster that is available today, limiting Henderson’s contribution to comply with salary cap rules.

“Raúl Sanllehí is in charge in Miami, who will execute the wishes of Messi/Mascherano/Mas. They will probably hire a numbers cruncher to comply with league rules.”

Taylor Twellman thinks Chris Henderson exit is a ‘loss’ for Inter Miami

Inter Miami were the most Googled club in 2024 – and the club partly has Henderson to thank for that.

Whether it be the huge signing of Messi or the recent acquisitions of Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets, Henderson’s work in the transfer market has undoubtedly helped transform Inter Miami into a MLS powerhouse.

With the 54-year-old now focused on a new challenge, MLS analyst Taylor Twellman believes Inter Miami will be impacted by the loss of Henderson in the board room – via X.

“Miami’s loss is Atlanta’s win with Chris Henderson making the move. It’s been in the works for a bit now but still not sure Miami will understand what CH did for them with the budget and salary restrictions. However I’m more interested if he makes the new hire for coach in ATL or does Garth?! #MLS”

As the 2025 transfer window creeps closer, the Inter Miami owners will be keen to get a replacement in place soon – who that replacement will be however, remains to be seen.
