Matias Rojas enjoyed a whirlwind spell at Inter Miami that only last one single season alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The Paraguay international joined as a free-agent in March before quickly establishing himself as a key player for former manager Tata Martino, with Julian Gressel lauding Rojas as ‘unreal’ for Inter Miami last year.
Despite an impressive record for the Herons, the versatile attacker this January for Argentine giants River Plate, with Inter Miami fans fuming with the club’s decision to allow Rojas to leave and to not award the forward a new contract.
Yet Rojas himself has now come out and said what it was like to play alongside Messi at Inter Miami.

Rojas lauds Messi as ‘the best in history’ after Inter Miami stint
Speaking to SportCenter, the now-River Plate attacker revealed that he felt privileged to play with Messi at Inter Miami, with Rojas stating that he believes the Argentina superstar is ‘the best in history’ having now featured alongside the 37-year-old.
Rojas said when asked about playing with Messi: “There is a lot that I will save for the rest of my life, things that obviously cannot be told. But personally, I am very grateful to life for that situation that I got to play with the one who, for me, is the best in history.”
The former Inter Miami star has never kept quiet his love for the Herons’ captain, with Rojas once saying playing with Messi was a dream back in 2019 when the attacker faced off against the former FC Barcelona talisman on international duty with Paraguay.

Who could Inter Miami sign to replace Rojas this January?
Rojas’ departure coupled with Leonardo Campana’s trade to New England Revolution means that Inter Miami are looking light in the attacking department when it comes to raw numbers, even with the addition of MLS veteran Fafa Picault.
However, current transfer rumors seems to suggest that a big transfer could be in the works, with Inter Miami again strongly linked with a move for Neymar, who this week has said he wants to reunited with Messi and Suarez.
With Angel Di Maria also wanted by Javier Mascherano, all signs point towards Inter Miami bringing in a superstar attacker to replace Rojas, with the Herons looking to go the distance in MLS and the FIFA Club World Cup this year.
