Inter Miami’s pre-season campaign kicks off this weekend against Club America.
It will be Javier Mascherano’s first chance to see his players in action, in what will be a difficult first game back for the Inter Miami squad.
The Herons will travel to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, as part of the first leg on their Americas tour.
With games in Peru and Panama to come, the Club America clash is arguably Inter Miami’s toughest test of pre-season.

Club America’s Luis Angel Malagon speaks on Inter Miami pre-season clash
The 16-time Mexican champions are CONCACAF Champions Cup regulars, meaning they will have no fear facing off against the likes of Lionel Messi and co.
With that being said, their goalkeeper Luis Angel Malagon has revealed that his side are looking forward to the game.
“And that’s the point I’m getting at. I think we have to enjoy this match because I think that these matches can be played very rarely, and if it’s not based on the Leagues Cup or something else, Mexico vs. the United States almost never play each other, and I think that it’s something nice that people are going to enjoy,” via Soyreferee.
Pre-season games are often slow and uneventful, but Malagon’s reference to ‘Mexico vs USA’, may suggest a more spicy affair than your usual off-season clash.
Inter Miami vs Club America team news
Many Inter Miami supporters will be hoping to see their big stars lineup in Vegas but Mascherano revealed Messi’s minutes will be managed in pre-season, suggesting the Argentine may be rested.
Miami will also have absentees in goal and midfield, with Drake Callender and Benjamin Cremaschi’s USMNT call-up meaning both will be unavailable for the Club America game.
Fans however will get the chance to see some of Mascherano’s new signings with free-agent arrival Fafa Picault likely to feature, as well as, Tadeo Allende, who recently joined the Herons on loan from Celta Vigo.
