The Javier Mascherano reign at Inter Miami has officially begun, with the Argentine coach taking over from Tata Martino as the new manager of the Herons.

Pre-season preparations are underway with the Florida franchise set to compete in their first game under Mascherano later this week in Las Vegas against Club America, where new signing Telasco Segovia could be registered to play for Inter Miami.

With the Herons already signing Haiti international Fafa Picault and Tadeo Allende on loan from Celta Vigo, things are moving along quickly in terms of squad changes Mascherano looks to prepare his team ahead of an intense 2025 season.

And last year’s breakout star Yannick Bright has shared what he’s noticed about Mascherano’s training sessions when compared to former manager Martino.

Bright reveals ‘different’ Inter Miami ‘system’ compared to Martino

Speaking to the press earlier this week, the Italian-born central midfielder shared how ‘different’ Mascherano’s style of play and system is compared to Martino, though Bright admitted that he is excited to work with his new manager.

Bright was lauded as an ‘insane’ player for Inter Miami last year after replacing Sergio Busquets as the main defensive midfielder in Martino’s starting XI, and the 23-year-old could see his development explode under Mascherano this season.

Bright said when asked about Mascherano’s first Inter Miami training sessions: “I don’t really know what to expect, It’s been the first days and I know that it is a different system from what Tata use to play; so, we’ll see.

“I’m really excited to work with him. He played in the best stages. He knows my position, and played a couple different positions, so I’m all about learning what he knows and improving what he tells me to improve. I’m at his service.”

Bright could become even better for Inter Miami under Mascherano

Bright’s last 12 months with Inter Miami has been as meteoric as one could imagine, with the MLS SuperDraft signing breaking into Martino’s starting XI and somehow displacing arguably the greatest defensive midfielder of all-time in Busquets for the position.

With Federico Redondo lauding Bright as ‘extraordinary’, the Inter Miami youngster has a big future ahead of him with the Herons, and Mascherano could be key to unlocking the midfielder’s potential even further.

As Bright himself says, learning from Mascherano who was also a world-class defensive midfielder will do the 23-year-old a world of good in his own journey to become the best version of himself, and continuing to learn could see the youngster hit new heights this season.
