Inter Miami have made a slew of impressive signings this Janaury, with Maximiliano Falcon set to become the latest addition for the Herons.
The Uruguay defender was key to Colo-Colo’s impressive run to the Cope Libertadores quarter-finals last year with Falcon confirming last week that he will join Inter Miami this month, with fans now just waiting for an official announcement.
With Inter Miami supporters impressed with Tomas Aviles‘ performance on Sunday against Club America, the Herons adding more defensive steel to their ranks in Falcon is needed given how the Florida franchise were last season at the back.
Yet Colo-Colo legend Leonardo Veliz has now seen fit to launch an extraordinary attack on Falcon ahead of his move to Inter Miami.

‘Crying idiot Falcon ripped to shreds by Leonardo Veliz
Speaking to BoloVIP, the former Chile international slaughtered Falcon’s actions this winter that have led to the defender joining Inter Miami, with Veliz critical of how the defender acted during the build-up to his exit from Colo-Colo.
Veliz said: “Today all the players are crying idiots, seriously, they say goodbye and cry, the journalists too, but I don’t believe those tears, football is money and money, I tell you that football players kiss the badge until they show you a better contract.
“Football has become dehumanised, but I understand them, because careers are short and you have to secure your future. I congratulate Falcon’s agent, he is going to a great team with great players, but it’s like mixing oil and water.
“I don’t know if Falcon can play, if you compare him to Otamendi, to Gimenez, he has nothing to do. Here in Chile they idolize him for anything, but for some reason Bielsa never called him.”
Indeed, Arturo Vidal was also confused by Falcon’s actions this winter after the defender missed the start of pre-season to force through a move to Inter Miami, and a Colo-Colo legend in Veliz now sharing his anger at the center-back’s actions will only add more fuel to the fire surrounding the 27-year-old.
Could Falcon’s actions lead to problems at Inter Miami?
Inter Miami are no strangers to having controversial figures in their squad, with Luis Suarez one of soccer’s greatest anti-heroes and Lionel Messi making headlines after aggravating Mexico fans over the weekend in the Herons’ first pre-season friendly under Javier Mascherano.
And with Falcon now joining the fold at Inter Miami, there’s a small possibility that the Florida franchise could have their new bad boy on the scene considering how the defender acted in order to push through a move out of Colo-Colo.
Indeed, Falcon is clearly ready for a new chapter in his career with Inter Miami, and although things could start off all perfect and rosey for the defender, Mascherano might need to keep a close eye on his new center-back as the season progresses.
