Fabrizio Romano has revealed on social media which team are now confident about signing Raphael Varane between Inter Miami and Como 1907.
The Herons have been strongly linked with a move for the former Manchester United defender this summer, with Varane currently a free-agent having left the Premier League giants at the end of last season.
Inter Miami were reportedly confident that they could sign Varane, yet newly-promoted Serie A side Como have since come into the picture, with talks ongoing between the Italian club and the former France international.
And transfer expert Romano has now shared which team has the lead in signing Varane this summer.

Como looking to get ‘final green light’ to sign Inter Miami-linked Varane
Taking to Twitter, Romano shared that Como are looking to get confirmation this week that they can sign Varane, who is currently weighing up te deal in what could be a massive blow for Inter Miami.
Romano posted on Twitter: “Como are confident to get final green light from Raphael Varane this week. The proposal remains valid on the table, up to Varane and his family — as exclusively revealed.”
With Inter Miami in desperate need of a new center-back, Varane could have been the dream signing for the Florida franchise, with the 31-year-old still one of the best in the world in his position.
However, it’s now becoming apparent that Como are the side who will end up signing Varane in what could be one of the most surprising deals of the entire summer, much to Inter Miami’s dismay.

Herons should feel gutted about missing out on Varane
At 31-years-old, Varane is very much at the peak of his career, even after two years at United where the defender battled through injuries and suffered inconsistent form under Erik Ten Hag.
And for Inter Miami, missing out on Varane to a club like Como will feel like a gut-punch for the Florida franchise, who could have made another serious sign of intent by landing a defensive superstar.
Indeed, Varane to Inter Miami could have been a possibility had the Herons pushed hard enough, yet all signs now suggest that the defender will now take his talents to Italy and to Como for next season.
