Inter Miami could reportedly miss out on Antoine Griezmann, with an MLS team preparing to make their move for the Atletico Madrid forward.
The French superstar has been rumored with a move to MLS for what now feels like years, with Griezmann stating multiple times in public that he is keen to end his career in the United States, naturally linking the attacker to Inter Miami.
With the 33-year-old also a huge fan of Herons owner David Beckham, it’s easy to see why Griezmann to Inter Miami is a transfer that many European soccer fans and experts have expected for quite some time in recent years.
However, another MLS team could now be about to land Griezmann this summer.
Los Angeles FC preparing move for Inter Miami-linked Griezmann
According to L’Equipe, Los Angeles FC are currently preparing to offer Griezmann a proposal to join the California franchise this summer, with the 2022 MLS Cup champions already landing international teammates Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud this year.
With this summer teeing up to be a massive one for MLS teams, signing Griezmann would go down as one of the biggest deals the league have experienced in recent years, with the Atletico forward still one of the best in the world in his position.
And for Inter Miami, missing out on Griezmann would be viewed as quite a blow for the Florida franchise given how likely it looked throughout the years that the former FC Barcelona man would end up at Chase Stadium in his career.
Indeed, with so many attackers on their roster this year, Inter Miami can afford to miss out on Griezmann, and the attacker himself could be more open to joining a club like LAFC where he will be the franchise player for years to come.
Griezmann could become a major problem for the Herons in MLS
Inter Miami are heads and shoulders the best team in MLS this year, with Lionel Messi and company firing the Herons to the top of the Supporters’ Shield standings with just eight regular season games to go.
Yet with LAFC moving to sign Griezmann, the French forward could become a big problem for Inter Miami with the California side starting to build a team that could rival Tata Martino’s in terms of superstar prowess.
Lloris has shone already this year with Giroud set to start playing at the end of Leagues Cup, and if Griezmann is added, LAFC could become a big threat for Inter Miami in their bid to win MLS Cup this year.
