Marcelo Weigandt has given his opinion on Inter Miami’s new signing after recently being announced by the Herons.

David Martinez was last week confirmed as a new arrival for the Florida franchise, with the Paraguay international immediately thrown into the Inter Miami starting XI for last Saturday’s League Cup opener against Club Puebla.

WIth Tata Martino impressed with Martinez’s performance, the center-back has emerged as an immediate hit at Chase Stadium, with Inter Miami lacking numbers in the defense this summer due to injuries.

And Weigandt has now shared his verdict on Inter Miami’s newest signing.

Weigandt blown away by Martinez’s Inter Miami adaptation

Speaking to the press ahead of Saturday’s Leagues Cup tie against Tigres, Weigandt showered Martinez with praise on how quickly the defender has adapted to life in Florida, with the center-back looking like he’s been part of the squad for months.

With Inter Miami in need of a defender, Martinez’s arrival has come at the perfect time, and teammates like Weigandt are already blown away by what they have seen with the 26-year-old River Plate-owned player.

Weigandt said when asked about his thoughts on Martinez since signing for Inter Miami last week: “He is a great person, the most important thing is that he is already feeling comfortable with the group, we are talking and things are going well.

“It was recently announced that he’s going to be a dad, so we are very happy for him, for his family, and he already knows he can count on us. We told him [Martino] that he should play on Saturday. He was natural, he wasn’t nervous, and he showed a lot of personality, that is very good for us, we hope that he continues to do very well both individually and with the team.”

Inter Miami have their missing piece to win the treble

With the Herons favorites to reclaim Leagues Cup whilst leading the Supporters’ Shield standings heading into MLS Cup, there’s good reason to believe that Inter Miami can win a treble come the end of the season.

Whilst not the continental treble that all teams in soccer dream of winning, Inter Miami winning three trophies this year would be nothing short of incredible given just how far the Florida side were from MLS success 12 months ago.

And in signing Martinez, Inter Miami now have their missing piece to go on and win the three trophies up for grabs this year, with the defender exactly what Martino was looking for in the transfer window.
