An Inter Miami player has hailed manager Tata Martino after everything the Argentine coach has done for him and the squad this year.
The Herons sit top of the Supporters’ Shield standings with just eight regular season games to go, with Inter Miami already the favorites to win MLS Cup as well as retain their Leagues Cup title this summer.
With Lionel Messi set to miss Saturday’s tie against Tigres, Martino has managed to transform Inter Miami into one of the best teams in MLS whilst juggling numerous injuries to what has felt like every player this year.
And one star name is in awe with what Martino has done this season.

Marcelo Weigandt praises Martino for Inter Miami opportunity
Speaking to the press ahead of Saturday’s Leagues Cup tie with Tigres, defender Marcelo Weigandt showered Martino with love on how the Argentine coach helped transform the fullback’s career by signing him earlier this year.
Joining on loan from Boca Juniors, Weigandt has emerged as a key player for Inter Miami this season, and it is Martino who has given the 24-year-old defender the chance to show his real qualities having been left out to dry previously with the South American giants.
Weigandt said on Martino: “Tata is a great person, he is always on top of us as a group. I don’t have the words to thank him for everything he’s done for me and my family, so I am always trying to repay him on the pitch and to perform as best I can.
“He makes every player feel that way, we all wait for our moments to perform, this is a great group and he has formed a great team. This is a family, and we all pull for the same side.”

Martino has been as important for the Herons as Messi and co
Signing superstar names is all well and good in MLS, but it all means nothing if there isn’t a coach to unify the squad and to get everyone ticking, and that’s what Martino has done with Inter Miami.
The Argentine was the dream appointment for the Herons last year when it became clear that Messi was joining, with Martino previously working with the reigning Ballon d’Or winner as well as having an incredible track record in MLS.
And this year, Martino is set to enjoy what could be his best season yet in America, with Inter Miami favorites to win the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup in what would be a historic domestic double for the Florida franchise.
