Inter Miami have reportedly lost the race to sign a rumored transfer target who this summer impressed at Euro 2024 for his country.
The Herons have been linked with a number of top players in this window, with Raphael Varane reportedly on Inter Miami’s radar with James Rodriguez also linked with a move to David Beckham’s franchise.
With David Martinez the only player Inter Miami have signed this summer, more additions are likely as Tata Martino looks to bring in the players needed to push the south Florida side forward in their bid to win MLS Cup.
Yet it appears that Inter Miami are set to miss out on one target this window.

Ricardo Rodriguez set to join Real Betis after Inter Miami links
According to Relevo, Switzerland star Ricardo Rodriguez is close to reaching an agreement to join Real Betis, with the Herons set to miss out on the former Serie A star this summer.
Inter Miami were linked with Rodriguez earlier in the window, with the left-back a familiar name in the European soccer scene after nearly a decade of consistent performances for the likes of VfL Wolfsburg and Torino.
Hailed on TNT Sports as a ‘magical’ fullback, the versatile defender could have been a fantastic option for Inter Miami heading into the MLS play-offs, with Rodriguez one of the most experienced players available as a free agent this summer.
Indeed, the 120-cap Swiss international would have brought a lot to Inter Miami’s backline had a deal been reached, yet with Betis steaming ahead, it’s evident that the Herons have missed out on signing Rodriguez.

Herons won’t be losing sleep on missing out on Rodriguez
Rodriguez would have been a top MLS defender had the former Torino man decided to swap Europe for America this summer, with Inter Miami an obvious destination for the Swiss international.
Yet for the Herons themselves, they won’t be losing much sleep on missing out on Rodriguez, especially having signed Martinez last week on loan from Argentina giants River Plate.
With Rodriguez set for another move to a top European club, it’s clear that the 31-year-old still wants to keep playing at the highest level in soccer, and Inter Miami won’t be too annoyed that the defender has opted to remain.
