Lionel Messi was once again absent for Inter Miami last night as the Florida franchise crashed out of Leagues Cup at the hands of the Columbus Crew.
The Argentine international has not kicked a ball for the Herons since the start of June, with Messi yet to return to full Inter Miami training after twisting his ankle in the Copa America final last month against Colombia.
Whilst Drake Callender has revealed that Messi is still involved with Inter Miami every day behind the scenes, there’s no denying that Tata Martino’s side are missing their star attacker the longer he’s out injured.
And Sergio Busquets has now shared what he thinks of Messi being out for as along as he has been.

Busquets wishes Messi was fit and available for Inter Miami
Speaking to the press last night after crashing out of Leagues Cup, Busquets revealed that he wished Messi was fit enough to play for Inter Miami, with the midfielder admitting that the Argentine is a difference maker.
With Inter Miami’s next fixture coming in 11 days against Supporters’ Shield rivals FC Cincinnati, Messi will be desperate to return to action for that huge MLS tie for the Herons.
And with the forward missing an 11th straight game for Inter Miami last night, it’s no wonder why the likes of Busquets are starting to miss Messi, who is needed if Martino is to lead this side to a domestic double this year.
Busquets said when asked about Messi’s absence: “We know what a difference Leo makes. We wish we could have had him with us. But injuries are part of football. It’s a shame he wasn’t here because we would have had more chances with him.”

Herons will be hoping Messi is back training next week
With Messi eager to return before the September international break, the attacker will be more keen that ever to get back out on the training pitch before next week’s clash against Cincinnati.
Inter Miami can solely focus on getting Messi back to full fitness with the Florida side having a lot of time between now and their next competitive fixture, a game in which the 37-year-old will be earmarking as a potential return date.
Indeed, Messi needs to be back in action as soon as possible, and there will be hope that the former FC Barcelona superstar will feature in some capacity for the Herons against Cincinnati at the end of this month.
