Lionel Messi transformed the landscape of soccer forever after his blockbuster move to Inter Miami and MLS last year.
Since the transfer, the sport has become as popular as it has ever been in the United States, with Inter Miami games featuring Messi now becoming the hottest ticket in all of entertainment in America.
Whilst Messi is out injured, the Argentine has had a profound effect on Inter Miami as a squad, with the Herons top of the Supporters’ Shield standing and looking like favorites to win MLS Cup later this year.
And Bundesliga star Mario Gotze has shared his verdict on Messi’s move to Inter Miami.

Gotze praises Messi for making Inter Miami switch last year
Speaking to TransferMarkt, the Eintracht Frankfurt star shared his respect for Messi making the move to Inter Miami and ensuring that the Argentine is doing all he can to raise the profile and quality of MLS.
Gotze was once approached by Inter Miami with the attacking midfielder another potential superstar who could make the move to MLS in the years to come, with the 32-year-old having some time before making such a decision.
Indeed, MLS have had some big names over the years, but none can hold a candle to Messi, and Gotze is pleased to see the best player in the world thrive in America and show he can still do it at the highest level with Inter Miami.
Gotze said when asked about Messi’s move to Inter Miami and America: “He is the best player in the world, he has been good for MLS and his club. And I think it was a good move for him as well. I think it is a win-win situation for everyone involved.”

Gotze could be next to join the MLS hype train
Gotze has never shied away from his interest in one day heading to MLS, and this latest interview seems to suggest that the attacking midfielder could be heading to America sooner rather than later.
Whilst Inter Miami might be unlikely given the abundance of superstars the Herons already have in their roster, Gotze could easily become a franchise player for a team if he can find the right market to join.
With Messi opening the door for the next generation of superstars to come to America, it might not be long before Gotze pitches up in MLS, with the German having the potential to thrive in the States.
